Alongside the Disabled Children’s Partnership, Mary will host a virtual Parliamentary event on the SEND Green Paper on Friday 17th June.
The event will feature groups of disabled young people and parent carers sharing their experiences of navigating disabled children’s services, their views on reform, and a policy briefing on the SEND Green Paper and its proposals from DCP charities.
Disabled Children’s Partnership’s report Left Behind has found that a third of disabled children are experiencing more pain as their support is delayed or reduced.
Speaking about the event Mary said
It’s urgent that the Government gets the reforms in the SEND Green Paper right. However, there are several concerning proposals within the paper that could restrict support and make an already confrontational system even harder to navigate.
I hope to see colleagues at the event to hear directly from those with lived experience navigating the complicated SEND system.
If you’re not a constituent of Mary, why not ask your MP to come along to hear important voices on the SEND system.
