Mary Kelly Foy MP Member of Parliament for the City of Durham

On 20th October, Mary joined colleagues in Westminster at a session hosted by Dogs Trust on the issue of puppy smuggling.
The event was a great opportunity to talk about the campaign calling on the government to raise the minimum age for puppies to enter the UK to six months and to increase penalties for those caught illegally importing dogs. This would be done through amending the Animal Welfare (Kept Animals) Bill, currently in Committee Stage in the House of Commons.
Mary attended with fellow North East Labour MP, Kate Osborne, MP for Jarrow.

Mary understands how big an issue this is for constituents and was notified of the event by a constituent who asked for her to attend to learn more about the horrors of puppy smuggling.
