On Thursday 21 May, Mary joined members of the City of Durham Constituency Labour Party as they presented a donation of £500 to Durham Trussell Trust foodbank. The Trussell Trust works tirelessly year round to help provide food parcels for those in need, and been under significant pressure during the coronavirus pandemic, so members were delighted to be able to make a contribution their efforts.
She then joined Chris Fletcher and other Belmont Labour Party members who were distributing donations from members of the community to local initiatives and projects, such as the Vulnerable Women’s Project.
Following these two events, Mary then visited University Hospital North Durham to drop off some treats for our amazing NHS and health service worker, again donated by local constituents and Sainsbury’s.
Mary has extended her thanks to everyone who so generously gave their time, money and donations and these worthy causes. These are just a few examples of the incredible community response in Durham to the coronavirus pandemic, and Mary is looking forward to helping out at more community events in the future.
